Stone Age to Iron Age
Guided by Elder Pip, a storyteller, the children learn about life in Britain before written history.
From our Neolithic hunter/gatherer and early farming communities through to Bronze Age settlements and a more warrior culture in the Iron Age, the full day involves storytelling, a look at chronology through ‘periods’ and ‘eras’ along with real and replica artefact handling.
In discussing ancient local sites and watching a short film about ‘The Princess of Dartmoor’ courtesy of Dartmoor National Park, the children gain a better understanding of life locally.
They make a Bronze Age village, take part in a carousel of hands on activities, to include making of a chambered long barrow, and perform a piece of drama about life during the Iron Age.
